Tidal Boundary Conditions for Coastal Water Models of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD)

The objective of the project is to improve the ocean model accuracy in the near shore area by creation of a barotropic tide model connecting the Atlantic Ocean with inshore estuarine areas in the Southern Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie Estuary, Loxahatchee Estuary and Lake Worth Lagoon such that the final model can be used for establishing tidal boundary conditions in the near shore regions (on the continental shelf) and within the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway for SFWMD coastal water models. Such a tool is especially necessary when it comes to prediction of future conditions such as simulation of 2050 conditions that many CERP projects require.
